President Trump began shutting our borders in January due to the spread of COVID-19.
It wasn't until February 6 that the Senate acquitted President Trump of both impeachment charges.
Despite being under attack by a partisan impeachment effort, President Trump took decisive action that has saved countless lives.
Compare this to Congress, which spent its time investigating the president, rather than helping the administration prepare for the pandemic.
Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot, agrees.
"I could tell you this; this whole country was tied up for two and a half months on the impeachment. Nobody Congress was doing what they had to do. Their eyes were not on where it should have been. They should have been investigating what was happening with this pandemic had started in China. They were not aware of it because so they were so focused — The New York Times, and The Washington Post and everybody else was so focused on the impeachment…" Marcus said.
Watch his brazenly honest appearance on Fox News below:
The impeachment process slowed the entire government response.
However, the Trump administration itself was the most nimble, as it implemented the travel bans early on and began raising the alarm.
President Trump even warned the nation about the novel coronavirus during his State of the Union address to the nation, which Nancy Pelosi tore up.
But while the president did an excellent job of multitasking, both chambers of congress were focused on impeaching and investigating the president.
Their focus, however, should have been spent on the real enemy: an invisible virus that originated in Wuhan, China.
No wonder Bernie Marcus sounded off on congress!
Breitbart has more details on Marcus' appearance on Fox Business:
Monday on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus said instead of impeaching President Donald Trump. Congress should have been investigating the coronavirus pandemic in China in January.
Marcus said, “I think that look this president has been hit with something that no president has ever had to deal with. I just resent the people that are going after him now. They are already talking about another impeachment. I hate to tell you that, that Adam Schiff is already investigating this.”
Bartiromo said, “You are hitting on something that is really important because, for three years, Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff were looking for ghosts of Russia collusion. In doing so in terms of getting the country all crazy over the potential of collusion between the president and the Russians, they completely missed the bigger, much more dangerous actor, and that is China. China has been eating our lunch. We’ve got all this stuff produced in China that we need right now, including our active ingredients from prescription drugs. So now they want to do another investigative process of this president and yet throughout the Ukraine impeachment trial as well as the Russian collusion for three years all that time they missed so much that actually impacted Americans.
Unfortunately, history appears to be repeating itself.
Instead of partnering with the Trump administration to fight against COVID-19, Pelosi and Adam Schiff have already begun new investigations.
One House committee even has subpoena power to investigate the Trump administration.
In the future, there will be time for reflection and to learn where and how the government can improve.
But an investigation while the pandemic is ongoing appears to be an attempt to undermine the president, not help him.
President Trump has already warned against more partisan investigations.
Indeed, now is the time to unite against the COVID-19 pandemic.
This invisible virus has the potential to infect anyone regardless of political party, ethnicity, age, gender, or career.
We all share the same interest in protecting others, including the most vulnerable among us, as well as ourselves.
But an attempt to politicize the virus during the pandemic itself will only divide us and make our efforts to contain it weaker.
The Hill confirms Trump's dire warning:
President Trump on Thursday railed against "partisan investigations" and "witch hunts" amid the coronavirus pandemic after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) established a special House committee to examine the federal response to the pandemic.
"I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics," Trump said, reading from prepared remarks. "Endless partisan investigations have already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years."
"It's witch hunt, after witch hunt, after witch hunt. It’s not any time for witch hunts, it's time to get this enemy defeated," he continued. "Conducting these partisan investigations in the middle of a pandemic is a really big waste of vital resources, time, attention, and we want to fight for American lives, not waste time and build up my poll numbers. Because that's all their doing because everyone knows it's ridiculous."
Trump did not explicitly mention Pelosi or a particular investigation, but the remarks appeared to be a warning shot in response to the Speaker creating a special committee "to examine all aspects of the federal response to the coronavirus and ensure the taxpayer's dollars are being wisely and efficiently spent."
Pelosi tapped Rep. James Clyburn (S.C.), the Democratic whip, to lead the bipartisan panel.
Pelosi's announcement came a day after Democratic lawmakers on the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday introduced legislation that would create an independent commission tasked with producing a “full and complete accounting of the nation’s preparedness and response” to the coronavirus.
Americans are already tired of endless investigations.
First it was Russian interference, then aid to Ukraine, and now COVID-19?
There is an election in 6 months.
Instead of trying to undo the will of the people, perhaps Democratic leaders should allow the American people to make their own choice at the ballot box!
