The Government Accountability Institute (GAI) research director Eric Eggers has a stark warning for the integrity of the 2020 presidential election.
As high profile Democrat leaders push for mail-in voting during the COVID-19 pandemic, Eggers warns that this could lead up to "24 million inaccurate and flawed voter registrations."
Mail-in votes would make it difficult to verify voter identity and make it easier for voter fraud to happen.
Accurate voter registration rolls have been a long-time concern.
As recently as 2012, the Pew Research Center discovered that 1 in 8 voter registrations are invalid or no longer valid.
The country has spent the last 3 years investigating the integrity of the 2016 presidential election.
Pursuing mail-in voting appears to be step in the wrong direction, as it would make it easier for those ineligible to vote to cast a ballot.
More details on Eggers' alarming warning below:
It is reported that there are at least 250 counties across the United States that have more registred voters on the rolls than eligible citizen voters.
Some voter rolls include those who have passed away, those who have moved to a different state, or noncitizens who were improperly registered to vote.
The George Soros-funded Brennan Center for Justice is the organization spearheading the movement calling for mail-in voting for the presidential election.
Breitbart has more details on the GAI's director Eggers:
Government Accountability Insititute (GAI) research director Eric Eggers, author of Fraud: How the Left Plans to Steal the Next Election, says the Democrats’ plan for nationwide mail-in voting would send ballots to 24 million inaccurate and flawed voter registrations.
In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Tonight, Eggers said nationwide mail-in voting would be wide open to fraud and abuse.
“The concern I have if we’re trying to mandate national mail-in elections — which by the way was part of the language that Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats inserted in the first version of the most recent stimulus package — would be that we have such massive problems with voter rolls in this country,” Eggers said. “So, now are we going to be mailing ballots to people that authentically don’t exist and or are ineligible voters?”
A 2012 study by Pew Research Center revealed that there are 24 million ineligible or inaccurate voter registrations on state voter rolls. This means 1-in-8 voter registrations are either no longer valid or invalid.
Eggers said mail-in voting ensures voters associated with those flawed voter registrations would get the chance to vote in the 2020 presidential election.
“If you have national mail-in ballots where the supervisor of elections are mailing ballots to everybody on the voter rolls and we know per Pew [Research] Center statistics that we’ve got at least 24 million flawed or inaccurate voter registrations in this country,” Eggers said. “That’s 24 million ballots that are potentially going to people with the wrong address or to people that are dead or to people that have double registered.”
Similarly, nationwide mail-in voting would almost certainly be tied to federal legalization of ballot harvesting, where political operatives are allowed to collect and deliver an endless number of absentee ballots from voters.
“You’ve got these paid political machines whose job it is to manipulate or to capitalize on those errors … the other problem I’d have is another part that was mandated in the Democrat-version of the stimulus bill which would be the legalization of … national ballot harvesting,” Eggers said.
Furthermore, nationalizing a vote-by-mail process would be difficult if not impossible as state and federal government officials are focused on containing the pandemic.
There are multiple challenges that arise from mail-in voting that don't appear from in-person voting with IDs.
For example, mail-in voting would create the opportunity for bad actors to register and vote from multiple counties, whereas that feat would likely be caught and prevented in-person.
President Trump himself has consistently spoken against mail-in voting and has prioritized protecting the integrity of U.S. elections.
Many states have chosen to delay their primaries, rather than moving towards a mail-in system.
This has changed how presidential candidates campaign. Joe Biden, for example, has focused on livestreaming in an attempt to connect with his supporters.
CNBC reports that Trump says mail-in voting never seems to favor Republicans:
President Donald Trump took aim Wednesday at voting by mail, saying Republicans lose out in the process that several states are already using to cut the risk of transmitting the coronavirus.
“Republicans should fight very hard when it comes to state wide mail-in voting. Democrats are clamoring for it,” Trump tweeted.
“Tremendous potential for voter fraud, and for whatever reason, doesn’t work out well for Republicans.”
Several surveys indicate that Democrats receive more favorable outcomes as the voting process is simplified, the Seattle Times reported.
But dozens of states already have in place more accessible voting methods, Business Insider reported, with 38 allowing early voting, 35 allowing absentee ballots and five relying on a mail-in system to conduct their elections. Republicans are elected to every level of government in those states, including those that primarily vote by mail.
Legal battles in Wisconsin, which held its primary Tuesday despite the threat of the pandemic, gave a taste of what could come in November’s presidential election. The U.S. Supreme Court reversed a lower court order extending Wisconsin’s deadline for filing absentee ballots, after the state’s top court separately blocked Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ executive order to delay in-person voting.
There are ways to protect voters while also protecting the integrity of our election process.
Many people, including the president, have pointed out the irony of Democrats calling for mail-in voting when they spent the last 3 years investigating Russian interference in the election.
In-person voting with voter ID is the safest way to hold an election and to ensure that only qualified individuals can vote.
