Could the COVID-19 pandemic be used to steal the presidential election?
That's exactly what Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch is claiming.
The novel coronavirus has forced everyone to stay inside and practice social distancing.
Because we don't know how long this pandemic could last, it is uncertain whether it will impact the 2020 presidential election.
However, Democrats have already pushed the idea of a "vote by mail" election, which would make it incredibly hard to enforce voter ID.
Many conservatives such as Tom Fitton are warning that the crisis could be hijacked in an attempt to steal the 2020 presidential election.
See more details, including Fitton's warning, below:
Many scientists and medical researchers are hoping that the COVID-19 pandemic will begin to abate closer to summer.
The flu, for instance, tends to die out during the summer months.
However, if that happens, it is widely expected that a second wave could hit in the fall.
Whether there's a second wave or whether the current crisis stretches a few months, there are already talks of contigency plans regarding the 2020 election.
Breitbart has more on Pelosi's coronavirus push to implement nationwide ballot harvesting:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) plan to fight the coronavirus includes a national mandate for ballot harvesting, same-day voter registration, and federally-mandated early voting provisions just in time for the 2020 presidential election.
As part of Pelosi’s coronavirus plan, House Democrats slipped in multiple measures from their H.R. 1 legislation that would implement nationwide ballot harvesting for federal elections — effectively allowing political operatives to collect and deliver an endless number of absentee ballots from voters.
Pelosi’s coronavirus plan allows “any person to return a voted and sealed absentee ballot” to a designated election office or post office and does not limit the number of absentee ballots that any one person can collect.
California is the only state in the United States to legalize ballot harvesting, though the practice occurs in other states as well. Pelosi’s coronavirus plan would legalize California-style ballot harvesting in every state for federal elections.
Pelosi’s coronavirus plan also mandates nationwide same-day voter registration, where eligible voters are allowed to register to vote on the same day as the 2020 presidential election and every federal election after that. Pelosi would also ban states from requiring voter registration applicants to provide more than the last four digits of their Social Security Numbers when applying to vote.
Pelosi's plan appears to be saturated with loopholes that make it easier to commit voter fraud.
She also would allow felons to vote in federal elections.
Her coronavirus plan would mandate free absentee ballots, election ballots translated into foreign languages, and early voting in all 50 states for 15 consecutive days, open for 10 hours a day.
Many others are joining Tom Fitton in raising the alarm:
Pelosi has been accused of using the stimulus package to sneak in loopholes that could be potentially used for voter fraud.
It even appears that Pelosi tried to shove same-day voter registration into the bill.
This is why conservative leaders like Tom Fitton are speaking out about the threats of Pelosi's antics.
Fortuantely, many Republican senators and congressmen are speaking out.
The Washington Times has more on Pelosi's proposed coronavirus bill "election audits:"
The Senate failed again on Monday to approve a test vote on a $1.8 trillion economic rescue plan endorsed by the White House and Senate Republicans, with nearly all Democrats voting no.
Sen. John Barrasso, Wyoming Republican, accused Mrs. Pelosi of trying to add “liberal wish list” items to the emergency bill.
“Same-day voter registration? Where does that fit in a bill to rescue the American people who, right now, find themselves in the throes of a disease that may kill them?” Mr. Barrasso asked on the Senate floor.
He also ridiculed Democrats’ efforts to include parts of the Green New Deal clean energy agenda in the measure.
“They are delaying direct assistance so they can play to the liberal left,” Mr. Barrasso said. “They want to put up an entire cap-and-trade system for the airline industry. Nancy Pelosi has been pushing this extreme environmental agenda from the moment she cut the deal to remain as speaker.”
Sen. Tom Cotton, Arkansas Republican, picked apart the Pelosi bill, for example mocking its proposal for diversity on corporate boards of directors.
“The Democrats want to impose quotas for race and sex on corporate boards,” Mr. Cotton said. “I know they’ve wanted to do that for a long time. Is that going to stop anyone from getting sick from the coronavirus?”
Of early voting and same-day voter registration, Mr. Cotton asked, “Now they want to pile election rules on a bill that’s designed to stop a pandemic?”
After three years of crying "Russia! Russia! Russia!" one would think that Democrats would want to double-down on preventing voter fraud...
... Not potentially making it easier for voter fraud to happen.
Mail-in ballots without any way to verify identification would certainly result in many illegitimate ballots.
Same-day voter registration would also create a logistical nightmare of verifying who is truly eligible to vote.
Regardless of Pelosi's intentions, the coronavirus economic stimulus bill is not the place to push for any type of election reform.
